CIDER – CITRIS Initiative for Drone Education and Research

The UCSC CITRIS Initiative for Drone Education and Research (CIDER) offers educational training and research support for the development and use of drone technology across all academic disciplines and many industry sectors. Students benefit from career-enhancing experiential learning opportunities, hands-on field research, flight time, FAA licensure, and a program focus on supporting under-represented students. Faculty gain access to a licensed student workforce, plus access to program-maintained drone equipment for research support. Industry partnerships and drone services contracts provide internships and field training opportunities for students, and collaborative research opportunities for faculty.

For more information, visit the CIDER website.

We partner with University of California Agriculture and Natural Resources (UCANR), Cal State University – Monterey Bay (CSUMB) and the UC Center of Excellence on Unmanned Aircraft System Safety at UC Merced on planning and execution of the annual UC Drone Camp, one of the only research-focussed drone training opportunities in the country.
